A giant mountain, three times taller than Earth's highest peak, graces the southern polar region of Vesta, an asteroid that's the target of a close-up study by NASA's Dawn science probe.Dawn went into orbit around Vesta, a large asteroid in the Main Asteroid Belt between Mars and Jupiter.

Launched in September 2007, Dawn successfully established orbit at Vesta the morning of July 17, 2011. It will spend the next ten months studying the large protoplanet before moving off toward the even larger asteroid Ceres. Dawn will become the first spacecraft ever to orbit two separate worlds in our solar system.

The mountain is about 3 times bigger than our own Mount Everest and over 2 times bigger as Mauna Kea, a volcano in Hawaii just like Olympus Mons, a mountain found on Mars. I find it really amazing thatour fellow people, astronomers, or people working for NASA or some other agencies/organizations are working on extra-terrestrial stuffs or some unknown things found on space or the universe and beyond it. Who knows? Maybe in the near future it'll happen. It'll really take some time for us to learn more about what's outside the Earth and beyond. but I'm really thankful that we now have powerful resources that could possibly let us learn and know how or world exists, or what's out there waiting for us to discover it. being an astronomer or an astronaut and for instance, is really a great opportunity to discover new things that revolve around us, but I guess that there are really a lot of great risks too, considering their lives.

So, why not try to check some of these space and astronomy stuffs out? I'm absolutely sure that it will be a very good experience, it's very educational and fun considering you, are going to discover more things about what's out there as you go on through with it. Just like Buzz Light Year said, " To infinity and beyond! ."

BLOGS THAT I FIND INTERESTING...

Hey there people! As you know, I was strolling through a couple of websites and I've read some blogs. And luckily I found some of them, interesting and educational, and it became like sort of past-time for about two days now. So now, I’m going to share it with you, the blog people and hope that you'll enjoy it too like I did.

I got these from a website that our teacher gave us. There are around 100 websites there, sorted out depending on what that website focuses on. I chose some from the categories in which I'm most interested in.

I started on Discovery Channel's website. When I was on the site, I kept on scrolling down the page when a topic or blog caught my eye. It was about a mountain found on an asteroid from a really great distance from Earth. The mountain is about 3 times bigger than our own Mount Everest just like Olympus Mons, a mountain found on Mars. I find it really amazing that our fellow people, astronomers, or people working for NASA or some other agencies/organizations are working on extra-terrestrial stuffs or some unknown things found on space or the universe and beyond it.

The second one that I found is from the website called NPR. I don’t know what that abbreviation means so I’ll just continue and get to the best part. Okay, so our scientists are working on a really interesting invention. It’s not like any of their inventions before because it’s extremely high-tech. As I’ve said, it’s not like any other inventions and it’s because it could help people out there that thinks that they’ve lost it all, like no chance at all. So I’m talking about a mind-controlled mechanical/virtual arm and they’re working very hard on it so that they could try or test it on so that they could see if it needs changes or improvements. They’re testing it on monkeys/apes because they’re the closest or almost the same as us, human beings. Our actions, lifestyles (well, not really I guess.) or mind are almost like theirs, they’re as smart as us. I posted this not because of the monkeys. I posted this because of the people it could help, paralyzed people, people with no or exactly 0 % chance of moving. This could really help them, it would help them be normal like us, they’ll be able to do stuff that they weren’t able to do, they’ll be able to pursue their dreams and achieve more and enjoy life like we do. I want to see many people’s smiles around. I’m really hoping for this one to be introduced to us, some time in the near future.

And lastly, a website that’s all about words, of course a dictionary. Here you’ll have the word of the day in which you’ll learn a lot from. Everyday, a new word, which means that your knowledge is increasing. But wait, if you think that this website has only words and words and only words, no, you’re wrong...there are also some games here that teaches you or helps you through something important like your vocabulary. Some games are like: FIND OUT WHAT THAT WORD MEANS! :) ; GIVE THAT WORD(you’ll have to give the right word for that definition) ; SPELLING BEE ; GUESS THAT WORD ; and THE CROSSWORD PUZZLES. So there are really a lot of ways for you to learn. Like this, you’re learning and at the same time, having fun!

So these are some of the things that I find interesting. Hope you liked it! :D

Types of Websites

Hi there! These past few days, I've encountered some links or websites and was told to identify them accordingly, because there are three kinds of websites.

The first one that I would like you to know about are the websites that give you informations about certain things. Here are 2 examples of websites that give informations to the people on the internet.

Here are 2 websites that will keep you interested in what's in and what's not:
http://www.engadget.com/
http://weblog.greenpeace.org/

I think that these websites were made to inform people because it gives us the latest or maybe the coolest informations about what's happening around us or the whole world. But when I went to one of those websites, I was really shocked about Steve Jobs' death, it was all over the website, I can never imagine Apple without him, he's really smart. Without him, there wouldn't be any of these iPhones, iPods, iPads, Mac, etc. I've heard of him retiring, but never thought that it would end this way, it's too soon.

The next one I want to show you are the website that were made to entertain people.

I have 2 websites here that would sure entertain you when you're bored:

These websites are made to entertain because they are about celebrities or show-business and movies, which are commonly found on media, specifically...the television and the internet. I would not be surprised about The Huffington Post's front page post about Steve Jobs' death, I believe that it is all over the internet, he contributed to a lot of things that would make life easier. The other website is about movies and all, even the latest and the vintage ones. It talks about the movies, its plot, where it came from, and lastly, about the casts the crews latest information.

Finally, these websites were made to persuade people, to convince them to do something that would benefit or would satisfy them.

Now, for this one, I don't have any website that would persuade people. For some odd reasons, I don't have any. Even though I need to put two here. It's either I get confused or just don't understand what persuade is...and I cant find anything that's unlike the others or under the given websites by my teacher so I'll just explain what these websites are for.

Websites that are made to persuade people are made to convince people to do something satisfying...something that would benefit them. Like websites that would provide their needs, like online buying and in terms of television, home shopping networks. They are selling stuff that would make lives easier, products that helps in the kitchen, some examples are the the baby bullet and the magic bullet, they are used to make smoothies and purée. So they are promoting and testing it or in other words, they are demonstrating how the product is going to be used, in front of a wide audience in order to sell them afterwards.
